Session Description: The Joint Commission recently revised their medical staff standards to state “The time frame for evaluation has changed from a period not to exceed two years to a period not to exceed three years, unless law and regulation require a shorter period. This change was made to better align with the standard practice of evaluating licensed practitioners every three years." While many in the industry review this change as favorable, there are a multitude of decisions that must be made before this change should occur. In this program, we will discuss the pros and cons of transitioning to a reappointment period of three years, and also discuss the regulatory, accreditation and governance document factors that will need to be evaluated and considered.
