Session Description: Shhh.. APPs are being trained and, for many of us, right in our very own organizations without oversight, approval, or structure. This may lead to compliance issues such as inadvertent billing and APPs practicing without privileges! Yikes! Face it, APPs are in demand, however, when it comes to learning opportunities outside of a full training program to advance their skills for APPs, they are expensive and few and far between. Let’s mitigate the risk and support the training of our APPs by exploring alternatives together to create a pathway for a structured, fully transparent, approved, and supported training for APPs and operationalize it. While we are at it, let’s review ideas to incorporate the training into our APP privilege forms!
Learning Objectives:
Draft a Training in Progress (TIP) process proposal specific to their institutions needs, develop talking points to present the proposal to Medical Staff leadership and the Medical Executive Committee
Develop specific talking points to present the TIP proposal content to the Medical Staff leadership with specific talking points that may include possible downstream impact that can occur without oversight.
Draft Advanced Practice Provider specialty privilege forms incorporating the Training in Progress process provisions
