Session Description: Healthcare delivery is ever-changing, as evidenced by organizations who increasingly used telemedicine to care for patients during the pandemic and beyond. Will organizations view telemedicine as a permanent solution post-pandemic and work toward finalizing agreements with sub-specialists to meet the patient need? How does an increase in telemedicine affect the credentialing and privileging process? How can you assure the competency of practitioners who never grace your hallways? How can you facilitate buy-in for credentialing by proxy (CBP) in your organization? During this session, we will briefly review credentialing and privileging options for telemedicine as well as how to validate clinical competency for telemedicine providers. We’ll also explore how to develop a process that effectively addresses the four steps of credentialing by embracing the flexibility of CBP provided by regulators and accreditors.
Learning Objectives:
Identify options when credentialing and privileging a telemedicine provider
Implement a compliant and efficient credentialing by proxy process
Determine a privileging model that is reflective of the telemedicine services being provided
