Session Description: This session will address foundational topics related to the Health Care Quality Improvement Act and the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), including discussion of physician reporting requirements, HCQIA immunity, and the discoverability of medical staff records. Counsel will share perspective and hypotheticals outlining situations where a hospital must report a practitioner to the NPDB and describing circumstances where records may be discoverable.
