Vice President of Bylaws and Governance Chartis Clinical Quality Solutions Chicago, Illinois
Session Description: It’s here and it’s real. For years, medical services professionals and practitioners have bemoaned the laborious, tedious, and redundancy of a 2-year reappointment cycle. In late 2022, The Joint Commission changed their requirement to allow for a 3-year reappointment cycle. In short order, ACHC followed suit. After the initial, “HOORAY”, did your organization make the move yet or recognize that this transition is not as simple as it may have initially appeared. This session will review the benefits and drawbacks (advantages and disadvantages?) taking into account the various elements e.g., bylaws, polices, procedures, privileging content and criteria, low and now volume, FPPE and OPPE, and state law that must be considered for a successful reformation of your reappointment.
Learning Objectives:
Identify if their organization can move to a 3-year reappointment cycle, and what needs to be done to be compliant.
Describe the credentialing and privileging process changes and transition plan that must occur to facilitate this change.
Determine whether their peer review process is robust enough to identify competency concerns and remediate them between the lengthier reappointment cycles.
