Session Description: Hospitals and medical staffs are highly regulated and must continue to maintain legal and regulatory compliance with a plethora of state and federal laws as well as accreditation standards and court decisions. The purpose of this presentation is to identify the laws and standards for which compliance is required as well as to identify best practices and considerations to avoid violation of these laws. Through the identification of these practices and alternatives, MSPs will be able to educate and work with medical staff leaders and senior hospital administrators in order to make any required changes.

Define and interpret legal standards for regulatory compliance requirements to be reflected in medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations
Evaluate and consider the adoption and implementation of best or alternative compliance language
Arrange meetings with medical staff and hospital leaders to discuss proposed adoption of best practices
